Ode to Mae
Glow Like Mae.
People often ask me, “What does Radimaè mean?”
The answer is deeply personal.
RADI is for radiance.
MAE is for my great-grandmother, Mae.
Together, Radimaè means: Glow Like Mae.
But I don't mean glow in the traditional sense.
My great-grandmother was beautiful, but her beauty was never the thing that defined her. She carried something much more powerful: light.
Mae passed away in 2018, shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday. I was blessed to know her, to experience her presence, and to witness the kind of woman she was.
She was simple.
She always had a joke.
She spoke softly, but somehow you always felt her presence.
She didn't need to demand attention to command a room. There was something about her that simply made you feel safe, seen, and connected.
That is the kind of glow I want Radimaè to give the world.
Not simply the glow you see on someone's skin, but the glow you feel when someone walks into a room carrying peace, confidence, warmth, wisdom, and love.
Her legacy lives beyond her.
Mae gave me more than a name.
Through her, I was given three women who would each shape me in their own way.
My Aunt Shelvie taught me poise and class. She taught me to show up prepared, knowledgeable, and certain of what I bring to the room.
My Aunt Sandra taught me choice. She reminded me that we have agency over the lives we create and the decisions we make.
My grandmother taught me almost everything else.
Compassion.
Love.
Power.
And my mother taught me strength and resilience.
Together, these women gave me the foundation from which I learned what it means to be a woman.
What it means to carry yourself with intention.
What it means to love deeply.
What it means to make choices.
What it means to stand back up.
What it means to leave something better than you found it.
Radimaè is my ode to her.
This business is more than skincare to me.
It is a continuation of a legacy.
It is my way of taking everything these women poured into me and creating something that can be poured into someone else.
Every product, every experience, every conversation, and every woman we reach carries a piece of that intention.
Because I don't want Radimaè to simply help women care for their skin.
I want it to remind women that they carry light, too.
That restoration is possible.
That softness and strength can exist in the same woman.
That taking care of yourself does not diminish the care you give to others.
And that the most powerful kind of glow is the one that comes from within and reaches everyone around you.
Mae lived 100 years.
I cannot carry her life forward exactly as she lived it.
But I can carry forward what she gave me.
Her light.
Her humor.
Her quiet strength.
Her presence.
Her love.
And now, through Radimaè, I can give a little of that light back to the world.
This is my Ode to Mae.
To my great-grandmother.
To my grandmother.
To my aunts.
To my mother.
To every woman who taught me something about becoming.
And to every woman who will one day find a little more of herself through what we create here.
Radimaè means Glow Like Mae.
Not because Mae taught me how to shine.
But because she taught me what it means to carry light.
And that is the legacy I intend to carry forward.
With love,
The Founder of Radimaè
